Service & Support

Midlife Classics’ primary focus is on restorations with Return to Service projects and upgrades running a close second and third. However, we understand how difficult it can be to find a reputable shop that both understands classic automobiles and is willing to work on them. We assume we’ll be the primary source of maintenance for those classics we’ve restored. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate new clients in search of repairs and/or upgrades alone. Experience has shown us that performing minor repairs on vehicles we've never seen before leaves us open to being held responsible for a whole host of unrelated problems. After having had one experience where a client tried to hold us responsible for his engine overheating when all we had done was disconnect his hidden headlight door actuators and zip-tie them open for a state safety inspection, the decision was made to make our minimum first service a Return to Service project. Once we've performed that service, we know we've released the vehicle to a client with full confidence in its roadworthyness. From that point on, we will perform whatever service, repairs or upgrades a client requests since we will have a known baseline of the vehicle's condition. We will never attempt to compete with the local “Lube & Tune” or auto repair shops. The nature of this business means that once a project goes onto a lift, it often “takes up residence” for an extended period – making it difficult to transition to short-term projects on an ad-hoc basis. But when we do have resources available (time & space), we do what we can to squeeze in repair and maintenance work for our existing clients. Just please don’t expect us to be available on a drive-in or on-call basis.
